Lush Ultrabland Cleanser

Hey everyone! Today I'll be reviewing one of my all time favourites from Lush Cosmetics: Ultrabland facial cleanser. Described as an 'Ultra-simple and ultra-effective' emulsifying cleanser, Ultrabland's formula is inspired by an Ancient Greek formula for cold cream - possessing a thick, butter-like consistency and texture. Now, I do realise that this doesn't sound all too exciting in comparison to some of the brightly coloured, gorgeously-scented cleansers that Lush has to offer, but trust me - the simplicity of this cleanser is what I'd argue really makes it sing. Overall, Ultrabland facial cleanser possesses a mere ten ingredients... (what?!). Formulated from a variety of natural oils, alongside beeswax and honey which work to grip onto any dirt and make-up on your face, it is so easy to achieve a rich, nourishing cleanse. Due to it's incredible 100% natural ingredients list, you're able to remove even the most stubborn of waterproof mascaras and not suffer from tight and/or stripped skin as other powerful make-up removers can be known to induce. Rather, you're left with clean, plumper, healthier looking skin...
 yippee!

The main three ingredients which I have found to be the most noticeably beneficial to my skin are: almond oil - which works to hydrate and sooth the skin; honey - which acts as a natural antiseptic and exfoliator; and rose water - an incredible ingredient which works to help calm any irritation or particularly sensitive areas of the face. Not only does this cleanser remove surface make-up and dirt magnificently as well as lightly moisturise and exfoliate the skin, but it also claims to rebalance problematic skin within just four weeks of use: a statement which I would 110% agree with after my own personal experiences of using this cleanser.

Since first introducing this wonderful cleanser into my skincare routine, I have never looked back. Whilst I do sometimes stray and try out other cleansers and/or make-up removers, this is the one I always seem to come back to: my safety net, so to speak. After that initial twice-daily four week use, my skin moved from what used to be extremely oily, highly-constrasting combination skin to what I'd now consider to be normal-to-oily in nature. I do still suffer the odd dry cheeks and shiny nose from time to time, but those levels are no where near what they used to be before I incorportated this beautiful gem into my skincare routine. I really do feel that the moisture in my skin has become a lot more balanced, and whenever I don't use this for a week or two, I really do see a noticeable difference in the condition of my skin.

How To Use
Using your fingers, scoop a small dollop of Ultrabland and dot onto dry skin: proceeding to massage it in circular, upward motions across the face (including the eye area) and neck. Soon, the warmth of your fingers will build up and it's butter-like texture will begin to turn into a wonderfully soothing, clear oil that will start breaking down your make-up and gripping onto any other dirt on/in your skin. Once you feel that your make-up has been broken down, simply grab a warm-soaked flannel and gently wipe off the the left over residue. For this I'd recommend a cloth/flannel that has a lot of texture due to the thick nature of this cleanser... and voila!! All gone.

A lot of the time I do tend to go in with a second application of Ultrabland cleanser and leave it on for a few minutes or so just so that my bare skin can directly benefit from the nutritious, natural ingredients it contains. If you suffer from dry and/or dehydrated skin, I'd definitely recommend adding this extra yet simple step into your routine. You'd be surprised what a difference it can make! I like to think of it as a 'conditioner' for the skin - simply another opportunity to inject some more goodness and hydration into the face's skin before applying moisturiser.

Even though the smell can prove a little off-putting at first (I'll be honest, it's no 'Let The Good Times Roll'), I would still whole-heartedly recommend that you pick up a sample of this little beauty next time you're in store. It really is 'ultra-simple and ultra-effective'. My skin is clearer, brighter, and definitely more hydrated and balanced. Whilst is hasn't fully got rid of my blackheads or redness, it undoubtedly has aided in controlling those problematic areas of my face as time has gone on. Also, despite its thick consistency, I haven't found that Ultrabland has clogged my pores what so ever (and that is coming from someone who usually struggles with this problem quite easily).

I think what I love most about Ultrabland cleanser by Lush Cosmetics is that, despite its beautifully soft and gentle nature: it is one of the most effective make-up removers/facial cleansers I have ever used. The fact that it's formed completely from natural ingredients too just shows that you don't need lots of chemical ingredients to remove heavy make-up and dirt. Overall, I have to say I just don't understand why this is such an underrated, often overlooked cleanser from Lush, and I oh so wished that I had discovered this sooner!!

Have you tried Ultrabland before? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section down below!!
